TMC LAW wishes to congratulate Kendall Hogeboom for being the receipient of the Flowercart's 2007 Biggs Award. This award honours those who have been placed in employment by Partners in Employment Outreach and who demonstrate the work skills that are encouraged by the Flowercart's Communty Employment Services program. Kendall worked at TMC LAW as part of this Employment Outreach program and was a great help to the firm.

Department of Fisheries and Oceans' working group
Chris Thomson of our corporate department has been invited to join a Department of Fisheries and Oceans' working group. Its mandate is to review and develop proposals for issuing fishing licenses to various business entities, such as Corporations and Partnerships. This is a significant issue facing the fishery in Southwestern Nova Scotia and the economic viability of this fishery. TMC LAW is quite honored to be invited to the table as only certain select advisors and business partners to the fishery have been asked to attend and join in these discussions. The meetings are slated for January 14th and 15th in Halifax.
Welcome Andy
January 1, 2008 – TMC LAW announced today the election of Andrew Montgomery as the Firm's newest Partner. Commenting on the announcement, George Lohnes, Q.C., the Firm's Managing Partner stated, “We welcome Andy to the Partnership. His election underscores the continuing growth of our practice areas and depth of talent throughout the Firm. Andy has demonstrated his ability to continue in TMC LAW's tradition of providing client focused solutions in litigation and employment and labour practice areas".
Glooscap Curling Club

Joanne McDow (Litigation Legal Assistant) and Bob Morrison (Partner)are sure to be on a winning team. Both play on a curling team Sunday nights at the Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville and on November 18, 2007 the team they played on got an 8-ender. This means the team instantly won $400 worth of curling gear from Asham (a curling equipment company) and they are entered into a national contest for a chance to win $8,000. Way to go Bob and Joanne!
CHAPS (Corridor Horse & Pony Society) Awards
TMC LAW is pleased to report Amy Laffin received various prizes at the recent CHAPS (Corridor Horse & Pony Society) Awards evening held in Enfield, NS. For her effort in competing in CHAPS shows held in 2007, Amy placed first in Pee-Wee Poles, first in Pee-Wee Barrels, received High Point Junior Horse Award, and received the Most Improved Junior Award - Great riding Amy! Amy is the daughter of our Operations Manager Katherine Laffin-Hanks.
Gin and Sonic
Stephanie Hiltz will be singing with Gin and Sonic on Saturday, December 8, 2007. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. at the Kings Arms Pub.
Stephanie is a paralegal in TMC's Foreclosure Department.
Jennifer Lorraine Scotney
TMC LAW wishes to congratulate Jennifer Lorraine Scotney on her graduation from the Bachelor of Commerce program at Saint Mary's University on October 28, 2007. Jennifer is currently employed in the Human Resources Department at Westridge Cabinets in Red Deer, Alberta. Jennifer is the daughter of Corey and JoAnne Scotney of Aylesford. JoAnne is TMC's Property Department Supervisor. TMC LAW wishes Jennifer all the best in her future endeavours.
Kristina Petkova
TMC LAW is pleased to announce the arrival of Plamen and Vladi's newest addition to their family Kristina Petkova. She was born at 1:30 am on September 19, 2007 weighing in at 7 lbs. Congratulations Plamen and Vladi!
Plamen Petkov is an Associate lawyer with the firm.
Logan & Mary Parker
TMC LAW is pleased to announce the wedding of Logan & Mary Parker on September 29, 2007. Logan is the son of our Bookkeeper, Brenda Parker and Jack Parker of Kingsport. Mary is the daughter of Calvin & Linda Johnston, Port Williams. The couple reside in Medford. Halloween
Some of TMC LAW's staff celebrated Halloween with a wide variety of costumes and no shortage of laughs. The firm held a buffet luncheon and a good time was had by all. Thanks to Cafe Central for the wonderful lasagne and to those staff member who also contributed to the luncheon.
