Municipal Law
TMC LAW has a long and successful history representing public bodies. We recognize the legal complexities which public bodies face. We have organized our Municipal Law Service Team of lawyers to be able to respond quickly and competently to any legal needs which may arise.
We have experience as Solicitors for the Town of Wolfville, Municipality of the District of Digby, Town of Digby, Town of Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Valley Regional School Board, and Acadia University.
Because of our extensive experience as Municipal Solicitors, we are aware of the importance of providing all components of Municipal Units: Council, Committees, and Staff with competent, impartial and professional legal advice.
Our firm consists of ten Partners and one Staff Lawyer, all of whom are committed to providing competent, uncompromising and cost-effective legal services to our many diverse clients. All but one of our twelve lawyers articled at TMC LAW, underscoring the commitment our firm places on attracting and retaining high-quality professionals. This commitment allows TMC LAW to offer Municipal Units consistency and continuity in the Service Team. Our lawyers are supported by a team of eighteen highly-motivated and highly-trained support staff.
Municipal and commercial tendering has become increasingly important and complex in recent years. The lawyers at TMC LAW have kept pace with these developments. Our lawyers have provided detailed and cost-saving advice to several Municipal Units and a variety of other public bodies on issues relating to tenders, RFPs, selection of proposals and subsequent contractual negotiations. We have also attended and presented at public meetings and Council sessions on tendering issues both on behalf of institutions and private tenderers. We have extensvie experience in Human Resource Management including advising clients on collective agreements, contract negotiations, and grievance issues.
TMC LAW has a broad depth of experience in Planning issues including Development Agreements on appeals before the Utility Review Board.
The lawyers at TMC LAW have developed considerable expertise in drafting, interpreting and enforcing a multitude of Municipal By-Laws. Our lawyers have experience litigating By-Law matters and issues arising from the Municipal Government Act, and its predecessor, before all levels of Court in this Province.
Our firm maintains a busy and successful Corporate Department which routinely deals with all matters of corporate finance.
